Privacy Policy

This page covers what serilum.com and link.serilum.com collect when you visit. In short: no ads, no tracking cookies, and the visitor statistics can't tell who you are.

What it collects

Visitor statistics, through Umami. It runs on my own server, so nothing is sent to an analytics company. For every visit it counts which page you opened, which website sent you here, your browser, operating system and language, and your rough location (country, region and city). It also counts clicks on a few buttons, like the donate buttons. I use it to see which pages and mods people look at, so I know what is worth working on.

To tell visits apart, Umami makes an anonymous ID from your IP address and browser, mixed with a value that changes every month. That ID can't be turned back into your IP, and you can't be recognized from one month to the next.

Clicking a link on link.serilum.com is counted the same way, right before you're sent on to where the link points. Nothing is stored in your browser.

What it does not collect

  • No IP addresses. Your IP is used for a moment to work out your rough location, then thrown away.
  • No tracking cookies
  • No usernames, accounts or email addresses
  • No ads or third-party trackers

There is nothing in the statistics that ties a visit back to a person. They only know that a visit happened.

Cookies

The site only uses cookies to remember your choices: whether you prefer CurseForge or Modrinth, which mod loader you picked in the configuration guide, and your settings on the translations page. They last a year. The translations page also keeps your unfinished translations in your browser, so you don't lose them. None of this is used for tracking. You can block or remove the cookies in your browser settings at any time, your choices just won't be remembered.

Supporters

Everyone supporting me on Patreon or GitHub Sponsors is thanked by name on the donate page and in the footer of the site. If you'd rather not be listed, just let me know!

Who else is involved

The sites are hosted on Cloudflare, so your visit travels through them to get here, like a big chunk of the web does. Links to CurseForge, Modrinth, GitHub, Patreon and other sites take you to their own websites, with their own privacy policies.

I don't sell or share the statistics with anyone.

Your rights

You can always ask me what I have about you, or ask me to remove it. As the statistics contain nothing that ties a visit back to a person, there usually isn't anything to find. You can also object to how your data is used, or file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes

If anything here changes, it will change on this page first, with a new date at the top. You can see the full history on GitHub.
